Two Benefits of Using Aluminium Slats to Create a Gate on Your Property
If you're not sure what material you want to use to create a gate on your property, here are some reasons why you should consider using aluminium slats.
1. This type of gate will require less manpower to create
One of the things that can make the fitting of a gate costly is the labour, particularly if the gate in question needs to be quite large. If you're budget conscious and want to minimise the labour-related expenses of having this gate erected, you should consider opting for an aluminium slat gate. This option will require less manpower to create. This is because this metal is naturally lightweight, much more so than other common gate materials, like wrought iron, but is also far more robust than other lightweight gate materials, like timber.
As such, your fence contractor might be able to put it up either on their own or with the help of just one of their employees, as they won't, for example, need four or five people to pick up the assembled gate and attach it to the walls or pillars. This could make the total cost of having the gate fitted substantially cheaper than if you had chosen a hefty gate material like wrought iron, the fitting of which might have required half a dozen strong people.
The lightweight quality of this material also means that should you ever need to replace some of the slats, you should be able to remove and replace them yourself, instead of having to call in a contractor and their employees to help you.
2. This type of gate is very secure
If you're putting up the gate for security reasons, then having the contractor create it with aluminium slats would be a wise decision. The reason for this is that even though they're very lightweight, aluminium slat gates are very secure, more so than other gate materials that are available within the same price range, like wooden slat gates.
For example, whilst a thief with a sharp saw could cut through a gate's timber slats in minutes and then easily squeeze through the opening they made, they would need power tools and a lot more time to slice through an aluminium slate gate. Because using loud power tools and spending lots of time on an attempted break-in could easily result in them being seen by someone, thieves usually won't even try to get through a gate like this.
